Excursion to Punta Grossa lighthouse

Touring Ibiza, June 25th, 2015

How I love to discover those places in Ibiza full of magic and where time seems to have come to a standstill!

Take a water bottle, a cap, your camera, a backpack and put on some sunscreen because we’re going on an excursion.

We have to reach Cala de San Vicente and from there climb up the mountain through narrow paths next to private houses, until we reach a narrow trail in the side face of the mountain.

Le me tell you, so you don’t complain afterwards, that if you’re prone to vertigo or dizziness the path might freak you out a little.

It is, however, such a lovely trip and the bay is so spectacular with its characteristic greens, blues and turquoises that it is certainly worth it.

And the best part of all is when you reach the end of the path and you see the Faro de Punta Grossa, a peaceful and mysterious lighthouse in perfect harmony with the nature that surrounds it.

When it was built over a hundred years ago, the place was thought to be perfect for a lighthouse but after several years of hardships and difficulties with the construction due to the inaccessibility of the place they realised that Tagomago was a better place.

So they turned off the lights that gave him life, but his majesty and mysticism have remained over the years.

And here ends our tour. Shall we take a selfie to remember it? :)

    Hello!
We just spent one wonderful week in Cala St. Vicente and planned a trip to this lighthouse too. But unfortunately the narrow trail seems to be too dangerous to pass, do you really use this path to reach the lighthouse?
